Band Info

Mike Nason. Trombone. I first heard jazz when I was 5 years old as my older brother had records by Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton. When I was 16 I joined the Colchester Silver Band and played with them for a short while. At college I met Alan Arnold and we formed the Cosmopolitan Jazz Band which played around East Anglia for about 9 years. I then joined a five-piece Dance Band and played with them for 2 years, then joined the Mass Jass Band run by Roy Cabouche. My wife and I were regulars at Jazz Festivals and through sitting in and depping with various bands, I got together with some like-minded musicians to form the Gipping Valley Stompers and at the same time I helped out with the Bill Jenkins Down Home Band. In 2014 I joined Red Beans n Rice and play with them regularly at their Club in Norfolk and other venues. I also play with the Superior Brass Band.
