Band Info

Norman Davey – Drums. My first major band was the Eric Silk Southern Jazz Band which had regular Friday night Jazz Club next door to the “Red Lion” in Leytonstone. This became a “Mecca” for aspiring jazz musicians like Keith Nichols and Chez Chesterman and many others who I have since met and played with! While with Eric we recorded an LP called “Off the Cuff” with musicians including Dennis Field and Jack Gilbert, which I think, is still available.
I left Eric's band to join the Mike Daniels Delta Jazzmen again playing with many fine jazz musicians. At the same time, I also played with a local band called the Black Bottom Stompers.
At the present I am working with the Okeh All Stars and Paula Jackman's Jazzmen, but mostly I play with the wonderful piano player Neville Dickie with his Rhythm Makers and Trio.
Of course, like most jazz musicians I get calls to deb in other bands, including Red Beans n Rice in their club in Broome in Suffolk.
