Band Info

Karl Wirrmann - Karl’s passion for jazz began in his early teens. An inspirational music teacher at school encouraged him with his technical and performance ability on both clarinet and saxophone. He went on to play at the Albert Hall and toured across Europe and the UK with Youth Jazz Orchestras. He went to University to study jazz at The Leeds Music College. Also explored other types of music on the way. He has performed in many bands playing jazz and blues.
Karl has been asked to play with New Orleans Heat on several occasions over the past couple of years. Band leader Barry Grummett is always happy to use Karl on reeds when needs a replacement reed man in the band. Barry said, “ Karl is a fine young musician who fits in perfectly with our band. When I have used him we have always had good comments from the regular followers of the band.” In fact at a charity event in Suffolk this year our very own Brian Munson, as he sat supporting the event in the pouring rain’ asked Barry, Who’s that on reeds, where did you get him from and saying he’s good isn't he. We enjoy him playing with the band and sincerely hope you at Colchester do.
