Band Info

Dennis Armstrong – cornet and vocals. Hailing from Skipton in Yorkshire, he led the Yorkshire Post Jazz Band for over ten years, before moving to Bristol in 1996. As well as The Great Northern Jazz Band he leads his Western Jazz Band and Bristol Blue Five. He has also become well-known at jazz festivals with his Oliver Band. He was lead cornet player with Jim Shelley’s Frisco Jazz Band, and has “depped” with many top class bands. His strong and melodic playing provides a firm lead for the rest of the band.
