Band Info
The Louisiana Rhythm Kings perform the jazz of the 1920s and 30s, capturing the exciting sounds of New Orleans, Chicago and New York. Their repertoire features the music of King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong and Bix Beiderbecke. Influences of the American revivalists Bunk Johnson and George Lewis can be heard, as well as the bands of the British Trad boom such as Chris Barber and Acker Bilk. The group was formerly known as the David Jones Band and was led by David for well over half a century. The Louisiana Rhythm Kings are now led by Simon Wyld, who performed alongside David for twenty five years. The other members of the band are all extremely experienced in the style, having played with many top UK bands and several are bandleaders in their own right.
