Band Info

Tony Scriven Sunshine Jazzband - This band pays tribute to Monty Sunshine who was one of the founder members of New Orleans style Jazz in Britain along with Ken Colyer and Chris Barber and is one of the few 'jazzers' to have had a record in the hit parade - 'Petite Fleur' in 1957. Monty led one of the top touring bands in Europe until his retirement in 1998 due to ill-health. Tony had been playing with that band until that date.

Prior to that, Tony led 'Vintage Jazz' billed as The Hottest Band in London and featuring Jumping Jack Gilbert. This band played regularly at Colchester Jazz Club at The Langenhoe Lion, The Town House, and then at Stanway Rovers.

The Tony Scriven Sunshine Jazzband entertains listeners and dancers with a mixture of Stomps, Blues, Marches, Rags and popular tunes from the 1920's, 30's 40's and beyond and guarantee an evening of excitement and nostalgia.
