He held the trombone chair with Brian Leake’s sextet “Sweet and Sour” during that band's record run of 16 years with an unchanged personnel. A lover of the blues, Mike also worked with Alexis Korner and with Ian Stewart’s Rocket 88, appearing with them on television and radio and at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival. He joined Goff's band in the 90's. As well as working with best of British musicians, he has played alongside such distinguished Americans as Max Kaminski, Bill Coleman, Wild Bill Davison, and Ben Webster. Mike was a founder member of the London Jazz Big Band. His playing has taken him to the U.S.A., Europe, Africa, Nepal, the Middle East and Australasia.
