Band Info
Tony Davis, trumpet, began playing while still at school in Birmingham. After spells with the Jubilee Jazzmen and the New Delta Jazzmen, he joined the Zenith Hot Stompers in 1981. His twenty-three years with Zenith encompassed many European tours and festivals, the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, numerous recordings including albums featuring Humphrey Lyttelton, Wally Fawkes and Chris Barber, and the experience of playing alongside most leading British musicians in the traditional field, plus, on one occasion, the incomparable Wild Bill Davison. Tony also reads, having played third trumpet in Paul Munnery's Harlem for eight years, and second trumpet in Dave Moorwood's Big Bear Stompers since 2005. He co-leads – with singer Judy Eames – Kaminsky Connection, in which he plays Max Kaminsky's 1938 Conn Victor cornet.
