Barry is a fine, punchy trombonist who believes that entertainment is a critical factor in jazz and is prepared to back his belief with action. His vocals on the jazz standards and his vocal treatment of ballads also help with the popularity of the band. Barry formed the Savoy Jazz Men in 1959 and they are still playing today.
