Band Info
Brian Mellor – Banjo - Brian was born and bred in Birmingham, he played with various bands in the 1960s including Bob Wallis, Storyville Jazzmen, Monty Sunshine’s Jazz band and Max Collie’s Rhythm Aces as well as more ‘local’ bands such as the Midland’s All Stars. Brian joined the Zenith Hot Stompers in 1972 and toured Europe and the U.K. many times over the following 25 years. He has also recorded albums with Humphry Lyttelton, Chris Barber and Wally Fawkes amongst others. In 1993 he formed the Jazz Ramblers now one of the busiest quartets around. Brian is currently a member of the Guinness Band based in Dublin, who visit Jazz Festivals in Germany, Sweden and Denmark each year and are the ‘resident’ band at Cork Jazz Festival every October. He also plays with the US based Fryer-Barnhart International All Star Jazz Band. Brian is a cornerstone of Richard Leach’s 7 Stars of Jazz being a founder member in the band’s formation in 2003.
